A PROFILE OF THE IDEAL EAGLE LEATHER EMPLOYEE
These are full-time positions for adults with a high
school education. This should not be just looked at as a summer job,
or side income for high school students. Our main focus is on customer
service and it is important to hire highly motivated people who are
looking to remain with the company for a long time. The people you
hire to staff your Eagle Leather store should have the following traits:
Sales Background – While not required it is a
plus in this sales-oriented company. Retail sales is preferred. All
positions should be willing and able to do sales.
Positive Attitude – A promoter personality.
Be sure the applicant has a positive mental attitude. Look for
interest, enthusiasm, and ambition, and the ability to work with
others.
Availability – An employee must be available
for the hours required by the position. They must be flexible to work
any schedule. Willing to work weekends.
Appearance – Each employee is “on stage” when working. Therefore, employees should be well groomed, with neat and clean attire.
Outgoing Personality – Employees must be
responsive to customers’ requests and, therefore, must not be too shy.
They must be pleasant and have considerate and helpful personalities.
Dependability – You must be able to depend on
your employees to be at work on time and to perform the necessary
functions that need to be completed each day.
Good Communication – Since both customers and co-workers will need to communicate, these skills are important.
Attention to Detail – Employees must have the
desire to strive for perfection while on the job, whether dealing with
customers, merchandising the store, etc.
Self-confidence – Your employees must exude confidence to your customers and be willing to take increased responsibilities in stride.
Hard-working – All employees need to demonstrate a strong work ethic. You do not want to hire people who are clock-watchers.
Integrity and Honesty – Your employees
must be trustworthy. It will not always be possible for you to be on
the premises during all operating hours. Therefore, it is critical
that you have the confidence that all of your employees can be treated
to carry out their duties responsibly and in the best interest of your
customers and you.
Team Player – Your employees must be able to work together for the goals of the company.
Teachable/Coachable/Trainable – Your employees must be willing and able to learn all they need to know to do their jobs effectively.
Basic Computer Skills – Employees will be required to operate a computer-based POS system. |
